A therapeutic autobiography is a document (handwritten or with a computer) in which the patient describes his or her physical person, personality, history, experiences, relationships, habits, likes, dislikes, mentality, emotions, feelings, desires, plans, and worldview.
It encourages the patient to compare himself with himself, to evaluate himself, to improve his sense of reality, and to motivate himself to do the things he thinks are right and useful to do. It also helps him present himself to others with greater self-confidence.
It can have a beneficial synoptic effect in that it contains the most important aspects of one’s person and life in one document.
